FBC Road Ride on Sunday

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Immediately following our rubbish collection event on Sunday, we will meet up at the Gambrill State Park parking lot located on Gambrill Park Road. In an effort to squeeze in as much riding before sunset, we will leave promptly at 1pm. FBC water bottles will be awarded to the KOM and QOM on the final climb of the day which will be Coxey Brown (1000 ft of climbing in 2 miles).

Here are the details:

When: Sunday, February 27th, 1pm – 4:30pm

Where:Meet at Gamrill State Park parking lot (click map to enlarge view)

What: roughly 40 miles with roughly 5,000 feet of climbing

Link to proposed route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/28725276/

Note that mapmyride alwaysunderestimates total feet of climbing in their ride profiles, this is a relatively short ride in terms of distance, but the course could be grueling depending on your fitness level due to the amount of climbing. There will also be an alternate route (more gradual climb) home for those who would rather not participate in the Coxey Brown hill climb. Please direct any questions to treasurer@frederickbicyclecoalition.com

Time: 10am – noon

What: pickn’ up trash

What to bring: wear bright colors and bring your work gloves

Where to meet: We will meet at the intersection of Kehne and Rout 40. (click below map to enlarge)

Riding?Don’t have a lock? Don’t worry, there will be enough of us there with locks to make due.

Driving? There should be enough room along the shoulder for parking, but think about carpooling if possible!
